Easy Turkey Gravy Recipe
New Year's Eve has arrived, but you couldn't prepare the turkey in the oven in advance due to busy schedules. But you also want to have a sauce to serve it with. There is no need to worry, we have prepared a sauce that will taste like you prepared it with the turkey's own juices. The trick is to use soy sauce. Soy sauce, which gives an umami taste like a gravy consistency, will add depth and a delicious aroma to your sauce. Of course, adding it to the setting is another trick.
You can preferably make turkey sauce with ready-made chicken or meat broth, but you can also prepare it with normal water. With normal water, its taste and aroma will be close to béchamel sauce, but after adding soy sauce, it will differ and you will see it. The easy turkey sauce recipe, which we prepared without having to make the turkey in advance, is below with its tips!
- 2 spoonful butter
- 1 onion
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 2 tablespoons (heaping) flour
- 1.5 cups chicken broth (or broth/normal water)
- 1 teaspoon of thyme
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce (preferably low sodium)
How to Make Easy Turkey Gravy Recipe?
- Peel the onion and garlic and cut them into the smallest cubes possible.
- Melt the butter over low heat. Start cooking by adding onion and garlic. Be careful to cook on low heat without burning it. When it becomes transparent and soft, add the flour.
- After adding the flour, start roasting by stirring. Stir over medium heat for about 5 minutes. Once the mixture begins to brown slightly, begin slowly adding the chicken broth.
- Cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens. Then add the spices and mix. Just before removing from the stove, add the soy sauce and taste. Add more soy sauce if necessary and remove from heat. Serve hot or reheat before serving.
