How to Make General Tso's Chicken Recipe?

  • Cut the chicken into thick, long strips. Then cut into bite-sized pieces. In this process, if you cut by holding the knife obliquely, you will get larger surfaces.
  • Put the chicken pieces in a large bowl, add egg white, flour, starch, salt and oil and mix. Add water to the mixture little by little and knead lightly.
  • Continue adding water until the mixture covers the chicken and becomes smooth. Leave the mixture you prepared in the refrigerator for 25-30 minutes.
  • For the sauce, mix soy sauce, sesame oil, granulated sugar, ketchup and hot pepper pieces in a bowl and leave at room temperature.
  • Place the oil in a large pan and heat over medium heat. Take the chickens out of the mixture and drop them into the hot oil, one by one, without filling the pan too much. During this first frying, make sure the oil is not too hot and the outside of the chicken is lightly browned.
  • After the first frying, turn on the heat and heat the oil at very high temperature. Fry the pre-fried chicken pieces again in hot oil for a few minutes until they take on color. Remove the fried chickens to a tray lined with paper towels.
  • Put oil in a large or wok pan and fry the crushed or finely chopped ginger and garlic. Pour the sauce mixture you prepared earlier on top and boil for a while.
  • Dissolve the starch required for the sauce by mixing it in cold water. Add starch to the boiling mixture, stir and cook until it thickens. When the sauce thickens, add the chicken pieces and mix.
  • Continue stirring the pan for a few minutes until the sauce sticks to the chicken.
  • Place the prepared chicken in serving bowls and serve with sesame seeds and finely chopped spring onion stalks. If you wish, you can also serve plain rice with it. Enjoy your meal!
