Hunter style chicken prepared with onion, tomato and dried spices is one of the favorite recipes of Italian cuisine.

Ingredients for Hunter Style Chicken Recipe
  • 1 kilogram of chicken drumstick
  • 3 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

For the hunter sauce:

  • 2 spoonful butter
  • 1 medium sized onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 2 large tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato puree
  • 2 medium sized green peppers
  • 6 chestnut mushrooms
  • 1 glass of hot water
  • 1/4 bunch of parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

How to Make Hunter Style Chicken Recipe?

  • Wash the chicken drumsticks in plenty of water and dry them with paper towels, and place them in a deep plate. Mix with salt, freshly ground black pepper and rosemary.
  • Chop the onion you will use in making the sauce into thin pieces. Cut the garlic into small pieces. Cut the green peppers in half and remove their seeds and chop them into half-moon shapes.
  • Cut the peeled tomatoes into cubes. Finely chop the chestnut mushrooms, wipe them with a damp cloth. Finely chop the parsley.
  • Heat the olive oil in a cast iron pan. Fry the seasoned baguettes over high heat, turning them upside down in between.
  • Place the fried baguettes on a large serving plate. Melt the butter in the same pan. Sauté the garlic you cut into small pieces and the chopped onion until it acquires a light colour.
  • Add chopped green pepper and chestnut mushrooms and continue the sautéing process. After adding the diced tomatoes and puree, cook the sauce over high heat for about 5 minutes.
  • Place the fried baguettes in a sauce pan where you add hot water, chopped parsley, salt and freshly ground black pepper. Continue cooking the baguettes over low heat for about 20 minutes to absorb the flavor of the sauce.
  • Serve the baguettes cooked in tomato sauce with vegetables hot after placing them on a serving plate. Share with your loved ones.
