The Swedes came up with a solution for difficult times and created a recipe that would feed everyone at the table with a small amount of fish. I present to you this recipe, which is a type of meal cooked in cafeterias or at home and is very common in Nordic countries. This recipe, also known as salmon pudding, resembles pastry in its shape. - 250 grams smoked salmon (or thinly sliced salmon)
- 700 grams of potatoes
- 1 onion _
- 1 pinch of dill
- 4 eggs _
- 400 milliliters of milk
- 50 grams butter (plus some melted butter for serving)
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 pinch of black pepper
How to Make Salmon with Potatoes Recipe?
- Peel the onion and cut it into pieces, fry it in butter until it turns pink and let it cool.
- Peel the boiled potatoes that are almost cooked (as they will also be cooked in the oven) and cut them into ½ cm thick rings. Chop the smoked salmon fillet into thin slices.
- Place potatoes, salmon, dill and onions in a baking tray approximately 30 x 24 cm in size and arrange them in several layers. Finish with the last layer of potatoes.
- Mix the egg, milk, salt and black pepper in a bowl and pour over the potatoes. If you wish, finish with grated cheddar or breadcrumbs. Finally, distribute 50 grams of butter in thin slices.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 175 degrees for 50 minutes until golden brown and serve after resting for 20 minutes.
