Stuffed calamari is an alternative recipe to fried calamari, which is one of the delicacies that you can happily consume by the sea on hot summer days. You can think of fried calamari served with tarator sauce as a snack, and stuffed calamari as a hot appetizer for a stylish dinner. Think about the taste added by the cheddar cheese and vegetables that melt and start to brown in the stuffing.

You can easily prepare the dish with frozen whole squid, but you can also easily prepare it with fresh squid by paying attention to the tips in the recipe.

Chop the vegetables, heat the cast iron pan...

How to Make Stuffed Squid Recipe?

  • Remove the internal organs of the squid you purchased whole by pulling it from the tail. Quickly pull off the skin on the outside of the squid, holding it by the tip.
  • After removing the transparent bone in the middle in one piece, wash the inside and outside of the squid in plenty of water. To remove the membrane layer remaining on the whole squid after removing its skin, go over it once with the upside-down and sharp part of the knife.
  • Chop the onion into small cubes and grate the garlic. Cut the red pepper in half and remove its seeds, so that it is compatible with the onions.
  • Wipe the mushrooms and dried tomatoes with a damp cloth and slice them thinly.
  • Heat the olive oil in a wide-based pan. Add the onions to the pan and sauté until they get a light colour. Add flavor with the addition of garlic.
  • Respectively; Add mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes and red pepper cubes and saute over high heat. Transfer the colorful vegetable mixture to a deep bowl and after it cools, mix it with thyme, salt, grated lemon peel and cheddar cheese.
  • Fill the insides of the previously cleaned squid with the stuffing you prepared. Fasten the ends with a toothpick.
  • Apply olive oil on them and place them lengthwise in a pre-heated cast iron pan. To give aroma; Turn the pan upside down and cook it in a short time, adding garlic and fresh thyme. Put it on a hot serving plate, slice it and share it with your loved ones.
