Ingredients for Arabic Meatballs with Tzatziki Recipe

For Tzatziki:

  • 1/2 kg. spinach (or purslane)
  • 3 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 glass of strained yoghurt
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1 teaspoon (wiping) salt (can be increased or decreased)

For Meatballs:

  • 200 grams of lean ground meat (prepared for raw meatballs)
  • 1 glass of boiling water
  • 2 cups bulgur for meatballs
  • 1/2 onion (grated )
  • 1 teaspoon of salt (can be reduced or increased)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for frying)
  • 4 tablespoons of olive oil (for frying)
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper (for frying)
  • 1 teaspoon chili pepper (for frying)
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper (for frying)

How to Make Arabic Meatballs with Tzatziki Recipe?

  • After washing the spinach well, chop it into two-finger-wide pieces and fry it in a pan with olive oil over high heat, without diluting it. Add salt and remove from the stove.
  • Place the cooked spinach in a small bowl to cool.
  • Place bulgur in a large bowl. Pour hot water over it and wait for about 10 minutes.
  • Add the meatball ingredients and start kneading. Add water little by little as the meatballs dry.
  • Continue kneading until it becomes a gum-like dough.
  • Tear off hazelnut-sized pieces from the meatballs and roll them between your hands.
  • Roll all the meatballs and place them on a plate.
  • Add water and 1 tablespoon of salt to a deep pot and boil. Slowly drop the meatballs into the water.
  • After boiling for 10 minutes, take it out of the water and put it back on the plate.
  • Heat oil, butter and red pepper powder in a large pan.
  • Add the boiled meatballs and mix until the outside becomes slightly colored.
  • Add the garlic to the strained yoghurt by crushing it.
  • Add spinach and salt and mix.
  • Place the spinach tzatziki on a large serving plate, add the meatballs on top and serve. Serve by adding the remaining pepper oil in the pan. Enjoy your meal.
