When you eat the famous Balaban meatballs, the local delicacy of Eskişehir, on site, you can see delicious meatballs cooked in surprising ways. If you cannot get enough of the wonderful taste of Balaban meatballs cooked by pressing them with a cast iron and eat a second plate, you may have to do a lot of walking. But it's worth running even 10 kilometers for this taste!

Ingredients for Balaban Kebab Recipe

For the meatballs:

  • 500 grams of ground beef
  • 1 tea glass of stale bread crumbs (finely ground)
  • 1.5 teaspoons of salt
  • 1.5 teaspoons of black pepper
  • 2 onions (medium size, chopped into small cubes )

For tomato sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1/2 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon of granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup water

For the above:

  • 1 cup yoghurt (whipped)
  • 4 tablespoons butter (melted)
  • 2 pita bread ( diced )
  • 1 glass of broth (to pour over pitas)
  • 2 peppers _
  • 1 tomato (cut into rings )

How to Make Balaban Kebab Recipe?

  • In a large bowl, mix the minced meat, stale bread crumbs and finely chopped onions with salt and pepper.
  • Make flat round meatballs the size of walnuts and fry them in a hot cast iron pan.
  • Cook the peppers and tomatoes in the pan in which you cooked the meatballs, until the outside looks charred.
  • For the tomato sauce, melt the butter in a pan. Add tomato paste, granulated sugar and salt and fry until the smell of tomato paste disappears. Add the water and boil it for a while, then remove it from the stove.
  • Place the diced pita bread on the plate on which you will serve it.
  • Pour the pre-heated broth over it.
  • Pour the whipped yoghurt, then the tomato sauce over the pitas.
  • Place the meatballs on it. After adding the pepper and tomatoes to the plate, pour the hot butter over all the meatballs and serve.
