Ingredients for Hasanpaşa Meatballs Recipe

For the meatball mixture:

  • 500 grams of medium-fat ground meat
  • 1 medium sized onion ( grated )
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon of chili pepper
  • 1 cup crumbled stale bread crumbs
  • 1 egg _
  • 1 pinch of parsley

For mashed potatoes:

  • 4 medium sized boiled potatoes
  • 1 tea glass of milk
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

For garnish:

  • 1 cup of peas
  • 2 medium sized carrots ( diced)

For tomato sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 glass of hot water

For the above:

  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese

How to Make Hasanpaşa Meatballs Recipe?

  • To prepare the mashed potatoes; Peel the boiled potatoes with their skins while they are still hot. Mash the boiled potatoes with a tool or a fork and turn them into puree.
  • Cook the boiled potatoes in a pot over low heat until they turn into a thick puree, adding milk and butter at room temperature. Season to taste with salt.
  • For the garnish mixture that you can add as desired and which will give flavor to the meatballs; Cut the peeled carrots into small cubes. Blanch the carrots and peas in boiling water and shock them in cold and ice water.
  • For the meatball mixture; In a bowl, knead the minced meat, onion, salt, cumin, chili pepper, bread crumbs, egg and a pinch of parsley until it reaches a consistency. After kneading, stretch it and let it rest in the refrigerator for about 2 minutes.
  • Cut off walnut-sized pieces from the thickened meatball mixture. Roll it in your palms and shape it into a bowl using a lemon squeezer. Place the meatballs you prepared on the baking tray, spaced apart. Press the middle part with your finger and make small indentations.
  • For tomato sauce; Mix water, tomato paste and olive oil.
  • Place peas and carrots, one spoon at a time, on the meatballs on the baking tray.
  • Fill it with mashed potatoes. Bake in the oven set at 200 degrees for about 25 minutes.
  • Take them out of the oven and place grated cheddar cheese on them. After pouring the tomato paste sauce over them, reduce the oven temperature to 180 degrees and bake for another 8-10 minutes until the cheddar cheese melts and turns slightly brown. Take it out of the oven, serve it hot, and enjoy it with your loved ones.
