Ingredients for Lattice Meatballs Recipe

For the Meatballs:

  • 500 grams of ground beef
  • 1 grated onion
  • 1 clove of crushed garlic
  • 1 egg _
  • 1/2 bunch parsley (chopped)
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons of oil
  • 4 tablespoons of water
  • 1.5 teaspoons of salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1.5 teaspoons cumin
  • 1 teaspoon of ground red pepper

For the Inside:

  • 110 grams of string cheese (diced)

For the above:

  • 2 sheets of puff pastry
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon black cumin

For Yogurt Sauce:

  • 2 cups whipped yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1 handful of dill
  • 1 handful of fresh mint

How to Make Lattice Meatball Recipe?

  • Mix minced meat, egg, grated onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, chopped parsley, oil, water, salt, black pepper, cumin and red pepper powder in a bowl and knead well.
  • Divide it into 8 equal pieces, put a cube of diced string cheese into each and shape it into a round meatball.
  • Cook the meatballs in a pan with some oil. Since the insides will also be cooked in the oven, make sure that the outer layer is cooked on all sides, then take it off the stove and place it on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
  • Cut the puff pastry into little finger-thick strips and make sure they soften at room temperature.
  • Cover the puff pastry on the meatballs with 4 strips of puff pastry, forming a plus shape and then an X shape, and fold them towards the bottom of the meatballs.
  • Finally, brush the dough with egg yolk and sprinkle black cumin seeds, then bake it in the oven at 190 degrees fan for 15 minutes.
  • Mix yoghurt, garlic, fresh herbs and salt in a bowl. Spread it on the plate you will serve it on. Place the meatballs on top, sprinkle red pepper powder if desired and serve. Enjoy your meal!
