How to Make Mashed Roast Meatballs Recipe?

  • For the roast meatballs, put the minced meat, egg and breadcrumbs in a bowl. Grate the onion and garlic over it. Add water, salt and all spices and start kneading. Knead for 8-9 minutes, wetting your hands from time to time.
  • After kneading the roast meatball mixture thoroughly, place it on wax paper.
  • Roll the roast meatball mixture between greaseproof paper and wrap it tightly. You will have a cylinder approximately 37-40 cm long and 9-10 cm in diameter. Let the rolled meatballs rest in the refrigerator for at least 30-45 minutes.
  • Place the meatballs, wrapped well in wax paper, on the baking tray. Wet the baking paper well so that it does not burn while in the oven. Bake in a preheated 180 degree oven for 30-35 minutes. After taking it out of the oven, let it rest for at least 20 minutes without removing it from the baking paper.
  • Meanwhile, peel the potatoes, cut them into large cubes and place them in a large pot. Add enough water to cover the potatoes and cook over medium heat until they soften. You can check whether the potatoes are cooked by inserting a toothpick or a small knife into the potatoes.
  • Add butter and tomato paste to a small pan and fry over low heat for 1-2 minutes. Add water to the fragrant tomato paste, stir and cook for another 2-3 minutes until your sauce thickens slightly.
  • Drain excess water from the cooked potatoes. Add butter and start mashing the potatoes by mixing them with a masher or a fork. Then slowly add milk and continue mixing.
  • Add salt and continue mixing until the consistency of the puree is smooth. You can increase the salt content and add different spices according to your taste.
  • After resting your cooked roast meatballs, separate them from the baking paper, cut them into approximately 1 cm slices and place them in a baking tray. Pour the tomato paste sauce over it, distributing it evenly.
  • Cover the baking tray in which you put the sauced roast meatballs with foil to prevent them from drying out. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius for 20-25 minutes.
  • Spread the mashed potatoes on the bottom of your plates and place the meatballs on them. Using a spoon, scoop out the tomato paste sauce remaining in the bowl, pour some on top and serve. Enjoy your meal!
