How to Make Meatballs in Casserole Recipe?
- Put all the meatball ingredients in a deep bowl and knead for 10-15 minutes. Then cover it with stretch film and put it in the fridge to rest for a while.
- Meanwhile, chop the onions, chop the garlic finely, cut the celery stalks into large pieces, peel the tomatoes, discard the seeds and cut them into cubes.
- Pour the oil into a cast iron pan (or you can make a regular pan and then add it to the casserole) and add the onions you chopped and start sautéing. When the onions soften slightly, add the butter and garlic.
- After the garlic and onions become soft, add the tomato paste and fry until it smells light.
- When the smell of the tomato paste disappears, add the tomatoes you chopped and continue sautéing.
- Then add celery stalks, thyme, rosemary and salt and continue cooking.
- Turn the heat down to high, cover the pot and let it rattle.
- Take the minced meat for meatballs out of the refrigerator and tear off pieces larger than walnuts and roll them.
- If you have a cast iron pot, you can continue cooking in it on the stove. Otherwise, you can pour the sauce you prepared into the casserole, place your meatballs in it, cover the casserole tightly with aluminum foil and put it in the oven.
- Place your meatballs in the sauce. If in the oven, preheat the oven to 165 degrees; If on the stove, cook them covered for 45 minutes on the lowest heat.
