Ingredients for Sandal Meatballs Recipe
  • 250 grams of minced meat
  • 2/3 cup breadcrumbs (stale bread crumbs if desired)
  • 1 tablespoon of water
  • 1 onion _
  • 1 egg _
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 teaspoon of chili pepper
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons cumin
  • 1 teaspoon of thyme
  • 2 teaspoons of salt

For the porridge:

  • 3 medium sized potatoes
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 tea glass of milk
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

For garnish:

  • 1 cup garnish

For the sauce:

  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 2 glasses of water
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

For the above:

  • 5 slices of cheddar cheese

How to Make Sandal Meatballs Recipe?

  • Wash the potatoes, place them in a deep pot without peeling them, and fill them with enough water to come to the top. Then turn on the bottom of the pot and let the potatoes boil.
  • Meanwhile, prepare the meatball mixture. Put the minced meat in a bowl and grate the onion and garlic on top. Add bread crumbs or bread crumbs, water, egg and spices and knead well for about 5 minutes.
  • Cover it with stretch film and leave it to rest in the refrigerator.
  • While the meatball mixture is resting, prepare the puree. Peel the boiled potatoes and puree them using a hand blender. Add milk and butter, add spices and mix well. Your puree is ready.
  • Take the meatball mixture that has rested in the fridge and divide it into 5 pieces. First roll each piece with your hand and then gently shape it into an ellipse.
  • Form a boat shape by gently pressing the middle of your ellipse-shaped meatballs with your fingers. There should be a hole in the middle that can be filled with puree.
  • Place the meatball sandals you prepared in the greased baking tray. Bake in this way for about 25 minutes in a preheated oven at 200 degrees.
  • Then remove the meatballs from the oven and fill the hollow part with mashed potatoes. Make a slight depression in the middle of the puree and place 1 tablespoon of the washed and drained garnish on top of your sandal meatballs.
  • Add water to the tomato paste, add the spices and mix well until the paste is completely dissolved in the water. Pour this prepared sauce over the meatballs.
  • Cover the garnishes you put on top of the sandal meatballs with cheddar cheese, put the meatballs back in the oven and bake for about 15 more minutes until the cheddar melts and the tops are lightly browned.
  • Remove from the oven, place the remaining mashed potatoes and garnishes on a plate and serve hot.
