Ingredients for Matar Paneer Recipe
  • 5 tablespoons of oil
  • 2 teaspoons of ground red pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 2 cardamoms _
  • 1/2 teaspoon allspice
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 red onion
  • 1 handful of raw cashew nuts
  • 3 tomatoes _
  • 1 teaspoon of granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 500 grams of peas
  • 1.5 cups hot water
  • 250g grams of fresh village cheese (hard white cheese)
  • 3 tablespoons of cream

How to Make Matar Paneer Recipe?

  • Boil the fresh peas in boiling salted water for 10-15 minutes until they soften, then rinse them in cold water and keep them aside.
  • Chop the garlic and ginger into small pieces. Chop the onion and tomatoes into small cubes.
  • Heat a wide and deep pot over medium heat. Add all the spices, garlic, fresh ginger, onion and cashew nuts to the hot pan with oil and fry until the onions soften.
  • When the onions soften, add the tomatoes and continue cooking until the tomatoes have a puree consistency.
  • After the whole mixture softens, turn off the stove. Remove bay leaves and cardamom pods from the pot. Blend the remaining mixture until smooth.
  • Return the mixture to the pot and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the water evaporates. Add the peas and hot water to the mixture, mix, lower the heat and cook for about 10 more minutes until the consistency of the sauce is achieved.
  • When the sauce is combined, add the cheese and cream chopped into large cubes to the dish and remove it from the stove.
  • You can serve your meal hot with fresh coriander, parsley and rice. Enjoy your meal.
