  • 1 glass of water (warm)
  • 1 teaspoon instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon of granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 2.5 cups of flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

How to Make Pita Bread Recipe?

  • In a deep bowl or glass, mix warm water, yeast, sugar and olive oil until the sugar dissolves.
  • Put the flour in a large bowl or on the counter, mix it with the liquid mixture and knead for about 15 minutes until smooth.
  • Flour the bottom and top of the kneaded dough and let it ferment in a covered bowl at room temperature for about 1 hour.
  • Remove the air from the fermented dough, divide it into four, roll it again and let it rest under a damp cloth for 10 minutes.
  • Lightly flour each dough and roll it out with a rolling pin into a medium-sized round shape, without making it too thin. Let the rolled dough rest under a damp cloth for another 10 minutes.
  • Heat a large pan over low heat for 3-4 minutes. Bake the dough one by one on a hot pan for 4-5 minutes in total until it changes color, rises and makes a solid sound when you hit it.
